The largest communication operator in Stavropol Krai is the Stavropol Branch of JSC Rostelecom, which is a structural division of the larger branch Yug, which is the leading communication and Internet provider in the South Federal and in the North-Caucasus Federal Districts. The licensed coverage of the Stavropol Branch expands over the entire area of Stavropol Krai. The infrastructure includes 26 administrative areas and 7 cities of the region.

There is active construction of optic-fiber connection lines underway in Stavropol Krai, which will offer opportunities for broadband Internet access.

Subject to a cooperation agreement between Government of Stavropol Krai and JSC Rostelecom, the Stavropol Branch of Rostelecom will follow the investment plan of 2012 to implement the 2nd stage of the project Development of Broadband Internet Access in Rural Areas of Stavropol Krai. The investment by the Stavropol Branch of Rostelecom in 2012 was RUR 150 mln.

All in all the investment made by JSC Rostelecom in 2012-2014 to develop broadband Internet access in the rural areas of Stavropol Krai exceeded RUR 1,077 mln. The project was implemented stage by stage, based on the funding allocated for the Stavropol Branch of Rostelecom.

Today Stavropol branch of OJSC "Rostelecom" is:

more than 595 thousand basic subscriber devices;
digitalization of local telephone network is 75,22%;
almost 3371 kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines;
the regional data transmission network with a speed of 2 Gbps and Stavropol - Nevinnomyssk to Mineralnye Vody - Pyatigorsk - Essentuki - Georgievsk - Novopavlovsk - Neftekumsk - Budennovsk - Zelenokumsk - 10 Gbit/s.
urban areas of the data network in the cities of Stavropol, Nevinnomyssk, Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, Yessentuki with a capacity of 10 Gbit/s;
more than 136 thousand users of broadband access;
about 1,000 subscribers of IP-TV.
Stavropol branch provides the population and legal persons of traditional and modern services: local, intrazone, intercity and international communication, broadband access to the Internet, digital TV services IP TV services to build VPN (virtual private networks), services of intelligent networks, Call-center, etc.
