Environmental Tourism

The nature in Russia offers a great potential for environmental tourism – there are areas where you can still see the aboriginal people that run their households just the way it was hundreds of years ago, which is of great cultural and environmental value.

The natural resources of Stavropol Krai – over 100 of natural monuments and reserve areas – make a perfect basis for this type of tourism.

The flora in Stavropol Krai is rich indeed with over 2,400 species of plants – St. John's wort, oregano, thyme, tarragon, strawberries, chicory, as well as medicinal bushes – rowan, viburnum, buckthorn, bird cherry, honeysuckle, wild grapes, and rosehips.

Stavropol Krai is currently home to nearly 60% of the flora of all the entire North Caucasus (40% of the Caucasus and 20% of Russia), i.e. the region is second top in the country, which makes it a special place in charge of preserving the flora stock.

Other sites for environmental tourism could be Mt. Strizhament, Mt. Mashuk, thermal springs., and the natural museums – the parks of Kislovodsk, etc.
